My reaction on same sex marriage

This was supposed to be posted yesterday but because of some encoding work that needs to be done first, I could no longer grasp ideas on my head. But anyway, here’s my brief and concise reaction on same sex marriage.
I was a bit surprise upon knowing about the legalization of same sex marriage in other country. While it creates big controversy in the Philippines, being one of the most gay friendly in the world, same sex marriage is still off the radar in the country. I have also friends and colleagues before who are gays and lesbians but I cannot imagine myself being invited to their same sex weddings. What I am trying to say is that it’s hard to celebrate something I don’t believe is right.

“Mark 10:6-9: But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female,’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. ”

Marriage is a gift from God. HE decides what and is not marriage. Same sex marriage to find the fulfillment for themselves is not honoring God’s gift. It is degrading the sanctity of marriage.

How to get Police Clearance

I made this post for beginners and inexperienced applicants who want to get a Police Clearance in the City Police Station. In my case, I get the Police Clearance to support my documents in getting a Postal ID because our barangay has lack of Official Receipt (O.R.) that must be attached to the Barangay Clearance Certificate. In most cases, Police Clearance is usually a requirement when you apply for a job either local or abroad. It is also needed to show supporting documents in applying for an ID like passport, Postal ID, and NBI Clearance when your documents are not enough.

Police Clearance proves that you are cleared from any criminal record in the Police Department. It’s so simple to get this document. But there are prerequisites to get it. Here’s how:

  1.  Get a Barangay Clearance. Prices depend on the barangay.
  2.  Buy a Community Tax Certificate or cedula. Usually P45.
  3.  Buy Official Receipt (O.R.) for Police Clearance. For now P50.
  4. Go to City Police Station and fall in line. Make sure your hands are clean for the thumb marks. The teller will give you a form after the payment. For now P80.
  5. Fill up the form then get ready to have a snapshot in the capturing device. After a while you can get your Police Clearance Certificate.

Why Muslims Celebrate Ramadan

Why Muslims Celebrate Ramadan

I made this re-blogged to understand and appreciate cultural diversity since i am living near a Muslim community.

TIME

Wednesday evening is expected to mark the beginning of Ramadan, a month of sunrise-to-sunset fasting for nearly 1.6 billion Muslims across the world. But what exactly is Ramadan? Here’s a quick guide:

What is Ramadan?

For Muslims, Ramadan is a holy month dedicated to prayer, Quran recitation, introspection and fasting during the sunlight hours. But the Arabic word for fasting—sawm—doesn’t only refer to abstaining from food or drink. It translates literally to “refrain,” and encompasses abstinence from food, drink, having sex, and all evil thoughts and deeds in the interest of self-purification. Muslims observing the holy month break the daily fast with an evening meal called Iftar, often beginning with a few sips of water or something sweet, like an odd number of dates.

What’s the religious significance of Ramadan?

Ramadan is believed to be the holiest month of the year within Islam, and the month in…

The Twilight of Boracay (Part two)

I can’t get enough of this spectacular sunset view of Boracay. Look for a good spot, get your camera, and never miss the momentum to capture it for keeps. Besides, it’s free! Appreciate a magnificent gift from nature; it will uplift your well-being, promise.

A beautiful sunset view of boracay
4. A beautiful sunset view of Boracay.

I think the best part of the sunset is it touches the inmost part of our soul. It is like a hallelujah moment. Maybe you can watch it another day or another place but nothing could insightful would hit you like this again.

Tourism in Boracay Island is at its peak during the Amihan season (December to May) where the water is often glassy smooth. But the sea was affected by green algae during peak months. It is indeed a beautiful beach but it needs proper management to improve.

Here are a few reasons why tourists come back to Boracay:

  • 1. Pure white sand and crystal clear waters. The wide long stretch of powdery white sand soft to the feet and smooth glassy waters provide the main attraction.
  • 2. Fun-filled atmosphere and party everywhere. The nightlife is just so amazing anyone could never be bored of. A lot of cheaper seafood and have it cooked there. Don’t also forget to see an array of souvenir shops along the street.
  • 3. Adventure and seawater activities. Island hopping, snorkeling, banana boat, Jet Ski, sailing were just among those to really have fun and go wild.
  • 4. And of course, (look above) The beautiful sunset view.

Just be aware also that there are people who took advantage of goods and services, just like in any other tourist places, which jack up the prices if they realize that you are a nonnative. Learn a bargaining skill.

    Boracay beyond beauty

Ever wonder how does a beautiful island is being made by the wonderful Hands of God and naturally sculpted with the blow of nature? Long time ago, this virgin island was inhabited by indigenous people called Ati or Negrito. They live through fishing supplemented by coconut (copra) plantation, and other root crop products then traded it to nearby places. It was a “paradise” then with the most pristine white sand beaches and the color of the sea blends with that of the sky. A natural beauty beyond compare! Until few foreign travelers accidentally stumble across the island and introduced it to the world, and the rest is history. Continue reading “Boracay beyond beauty”
